Frank Gingeleit's very detailed interview with the British web magazine "This Is Not A Scene" can be found here.

Absolutely blasting and furiously psychout rockin' project made of perpetual improvs and majestic instrumental epic interludes. High musical level, at the pinnacle of the krautrock revival. Similar to Clearlight, Gila, Faust, Guru Guru , Acid Mothers Temple (to name a few). This is a multinational project formed in 2005 by highly acclaimed and trained musicians from the underground. (IDF Band Bio)

'Ho Avuto Paura Del Mare' represents a rather unconventional recording in any case. Though far away from simple noise or close-minded jam attitude, to make it clear, this is a highly recommendable effort (...). That means musicianship and production are flawless. If you like exceptional music (...), nothing will stop you furthermore from being a fan of this album. (About "Ho Avuto Paura Del Mare")

"Von einem windumtosten Grenzland zwischen Wüste und Meer, dort, wo sich Gischt und Staub vermengen, scheint der Titel "Put Down The Guns" zu erzählen. (...) (About "Ho Avuto Paura del Mare")

"Instant Drone Factory is a perfect example of the directions in which creativity can take music. (...) It is an exercise in creative improvisation by a group of like minded individuals whose stated aim is not to stand out from the rest of the group; this is not a competitive situation: it’s a collective effort, collaborative and participative. (...) Our Rating: 9/10" (About "Ho Avuto Paura del Mare")

"Instant Drone Factory will appeal to fans of classic Krautrock (particularly Can), but the musicians are clearly jazz influenced as well. The sound quality and production of the album are excellent, which is important with this band because each musician makes very distinct and often contrasting contributions and the listener needs to hear that to really appreciate the music. Check these guys out." (About "Ho Avuto Paura del Mare")

(About "Ho Avuto Paura del Mare")

Rockway Greece

(About "Ho Avuto Paura del Mare")

"Uusi nettijulkaisu Instant Drone Factoryltä. Saksalainen psykedeelinen ja kokeellinen improvisaatioryhmä Instant Drone Factory tarjoaa koko uuden levynsä ”Ho Avuto Paura Del Mare” MySpace - sivuillaan osoitteessa ja etsii samalla levylle julkaisijaa. Kannattaa tsekata!" (On the occasion of the online pre-release of "Ho Avuto Paura del Mare")

"Featuring a revolving band line-up depending on who is around, although Andrea Tabacco and Frank Gingeleit have managed to turn for everything, Instant Drone Factory is a band whose music is completely improvised with no overdubs or even rehearsals. Whilst this could be a recipe for disaster, one listen to their 'Live' album tells you that the band manage to sound cohesive and incredibly powerful. (...) Over four tracks the music wails, caresses and beguiles, with opening track 'Summer' being a fine example of their art, flutes, drums, guitars, and vocals managing to stay together in loose tumble of noise and melody." (About "Live")

The second outing from Instant Drone Factory documents their performance at the 2006 Schiphorst Avantgarde Festival in Germany. (...) 'Summer' opens the set with searing guitars, both hard edged droning and spaced out. Andrea Tabacco's vocals are aggressive and theatrically spoken word, very much like Damo Suzuki, but also have a Captain Beefheart flavor. When the rhythm section kicks in the band settle into a tribal groove, which makes for a great combination with the manic vocals and corrosive guitars." (About "Live")

"Instant Drone Factory on saksalais-italialainen improvisoitua avantgarde/kraut/psykerockia soittava kollektiivi, jonka miehistä vaihtelee ilmeisesti jonkin verran. (About "Live")

(About "Live")

Inmusic 2000 Germany

"Critical Mass is a collection of five extended experimental, droning jazz fusion pieces spawned out of free-form improvisational sessions. The Critical Mass recording is a (...) collection of experimental music that has been shaped and crafted into a considerable listening experience. For enthusiasts of the off beat jazz fusion and improvised sounds with a touch of drone, or for casual imaginative rock fans, Instant Drone Factory are worth checking out." (About "Critical Mass")

UMFM Canada

"The very first note that they played is on the CD (though not the first note of the CD). Most listeners of the results will be sure that only a band with many years of common improvisational experience would be able to show this kind of blind understanding and musical sensitivity. But yes, it’s true – they met for the second time, and they developed this incredible flow of arbitrary noise-scapes and seemingly pre-composed “songs” in a one day live-in-studio recording session."
